I first met Jaiden in Tarkwa. Prophet Gideon of True Faith, whom I call my father, invited me to a church programme, and Jaiden, a prophet there and a friend of his, became my friend too. I called him uncle.
I had spoken to Jaiden's mother before I ever met her. One day I called Jaiden to say hi, and a lady picked up. I was sure she was his girlfriend, but I spoke to her politely and we had a warm chat. After the call I told Jaiden about it and asked him to apologise to his girlfriend on my behalf and reassure her that we were just friends. He burst out laughing. The lady was his mother.
Later I came to Accra and called him to say I was around. “We should meet up,” he said, and that is how I met her in person. We bonded easily, and she liked me.
On my way back from Accra she called and asked if I had a boyfriend. She told me she wanted me to marry her son. She kept encouraging him, and in time he spoke to me about us. We decided to try.
I told Ma Bridget, my mother in the Lord, and she asked us to pray about it. We did, and she accepted him and liked him too. So did I.
In July I went to Accra again and we met. On our way out, he suddenly went down on his knees. I thought we were about to pray, so I started kneeling too, and then he asked me to marry him. I said yes.
This is how far the Lord has brought us.
I was invited to the programme as one of the prophets. Prophet Gideon, a brother of mine, was the one who had invited Constance. During the programme I had a word for her and, in keeping with our church's culture, she was called up and it was shared with her personally. She wept. Another prophet shared a word with her too, and she kept crying until we had to take her outside to comfort her.
That was when I took her contact, because I needed to follow up on the direction she had been given. I rarely give out my number because of the work I do, so I took hers instead. I called her later to check on her, and that is how she got mine too. She told me she was my niece, since my friend is her father in the Lord, and she began calling me uncle. I found it funny, and I had a feeling she was going to be interesting.
Before we ever met, she had called and spoken with my mother, who loved her instantly. When Constance told me she was coming to Accra, my mother asked to meet her. After they met, my mother's love for her was certain, and she told me she believed Constance was my wife.
I did not tell Constance this. Through those months of getting to know her I kept praying about it, until I felt settled in my spirit, and then I told her. She said she wanted to pray about it too, and I spoke with Ma Bridget, her spiritual mother, who liked me as well.
You do not need to know someone for years to marry them.
I have known Constance for a few months, and this is how far the Lord has brought us.
